Cyberskin: Why We Like It

The other day, a woman called us. She wanted to buy a penis extensions for her husband. She had a choice between latex and Cyberskin and wanted to know the difference. Price-wise it was about 20 dollars; Cyberskin being the more expensive of the two. Now, we are all very aware that times of tough, and I will be the first sniff out a bargain. Fellow MUFers, don't we all wonder if that lipstick at Macy's is really any different than the one at Walgreens? I have heard that Lancome and L'Oreal are the the same company. Okay... I am digressing here. Bottom line, I do not begrudge anyone for trying to save a few extras bucks. But when it came to these extensions, I felt the need to nudge her along. Cyberskin. Cyberskin. She asked me to describe the cyberskin. And the first thing that came to my mind, it's like a Cabbage Patch Doll. Soft and life-like. She got the Cyberskin.

I feel the need to have a more thorough disourse on CyberSkin. "It's like a Cabbage Patch Doll," does not really cut it. So here is what we know about Cyberskin:

It was invented by the founders of Topco Sales whose origins are in Southern California’s Aerospace and Metallurgical Engineering Technology. With the creation of CyberSkin it is now possible to make products with Virtual Touch™, that is, with an extremely realistic feel like that of the human body. This means that if you close your eyes and touch the material, you can't tell the difference between CyberSkin and the human body.

CyberSkin has two unique properties. First, CyberSkin has memory and can recover to its original shape. Second, this revolutionary material can simulate in the same product the softness of skin and the rigidity of erectile tissue. The injection molding process used to create CyberSkin products allows them to vary the density or hardness of the CyberSkin within the same mold. This is one of the keys to the remarkably realistic feel. Some CyberSkin vibrators are so detailed that they have skin that moves along the shaft and balls that shift inside the scrotum.

For some customers, CyberSkin vibrators are almost a little too realistic looking and feeling. Almost horrified at the sight and feel of a disembodied penis, they can’t imagine being turned on by them. The size can also add to this fear. Because of the soft, skin-like resilient surface, the manufacturer has tended to make these vibrators larger in girth than average, knowing that they will fit and feel just fine.

Most customers genuinely enjoy the likeness, and it feeds perfectly into their most erotic fantasies. The CyberSkin vibrators with realistic balls provide a flat base fitting against the palm of your hands for control, while the balls stimulate the clitoris with each thrust.

CyberSkin needs to be treated with care. It is not the type of toy you throw into a drawer along with your other toys. Being soft and skin-like, it can tear against rough edges, and because it’s semi-porous you don’t want it touching any silicone toys. Silicone deteriorates CyberSkin material and also stains it to whatever color the silicone toy was that it touched!

The semi-porous quality also makes CyberSkin toys more difficult to clean than other materials. Therefore, you may want to cover your CyberSkin vibrator with a condom before inserting it, especially if you are using it for anal penetration or if you are sharing it. And as with all CyberSkin toys, use water-based lube only; oil-based or silicone-based lubes will destroy the CyberSkin material.

After using:
Wash with a liquid antibacterial soap and water.
Pat dry with a soft cotton towel and allow to air-dry completely.
Generously apply CyberSkin RENEW (or cornstarch) to properly maintain your CyberSkin products. This will restore the original soft, non-sticky smooth Virtual Touch™ texture.

So that's the skinny on Cyberskin.

The Ultimate Orgasm Kits

Last month we went to one of the big "trade shows." Basically, it is toy makers and distributors showing off their stuff. Other than a huge ice penis that one pours his/her beer through, much of it was the same old stuff. Don't get me wrong; it was all very interesting and time well-spent. And lunch was good.

In addition to the amazing ice penis, there was something else that caught our eye. A company called Secretly Pink has these interesting little kits called Ultimate Orgasm Kits. First of all, they looked good and seemed like a great gift idea. Upon closer inspection, one realizes these kits have some real thought behind them. The Like a Virgin Kit seems funny and cute. But look closer and you will see this kit comes with a tightening cream, ben-wa balls to work kegels and a tightening guide book. Another example, the Tickle Her G-Spot Kit comes with a g-spot arousal gel, a g-spot vibrator, and once again, a manual for finding the famously secretive spot.

We had to dig further before we added this line to our store. This what the Secretly Pink has to say about itself:

"We area unique company that utilizes education together with romance and passion. Our exceptional products are designed to bring couples to a higher level of intimacy.

We are dedicated to developing products that are fun, educational, sexually enhancing, safe and packaged to intrigue and not embarrass or offend women. Our customers will see this in all of our products and packaging.

Our best-known product line is “Tickle Her”, a line of enhancing fun stimulating gels and “Ultimate Orgasm Kits” coupled with unique educational guides. These Kits educate both men and women on how to use toys to their full potential with our multi-language guidebooks and stimulating gels.

We test our product concepts extensively during consumer trade shows all over the North America, determining if products are going to appeal to consumers . We also host product focus groups to learn more about what women want and do not want in products.

Pow Products is also a sexual health and wellness company. We focus on quality, making sure that every product we offer in the marketplace measures up to our strict standards. When you see the Pow Products logo on a product, you can be confident you are investing in a quality product that is backed by a 100% guarantee!"

We met the people and learned what they had to say about their product. We feel the Ultimate Orgasm line is really what Melrose Urban Female is all about. Loved the ice penis, but it's really for the frat house. But geez ... I keep thinking about that stupid thing.

Toy Maker of the Month: Vibratex

"Feel the Difference!"

Inventors of the first "Rabbit-Style" vibrators, Vibratex, Inc. was formed 22 years ago - based on the need for well-made, high quality vibrators for a woman and her clitoris. It seems the only vibrators available for women at that time were the plastic missile style vibes and the realistic looking latex vibes. Both vibrated but really did not offer any other pleasurable sensations. Considering that over 80% of the female population can only achieve orgasm through clitoral stimulation, the adult novelty industry was sorely lacking! The idea of products truly designed for a women's body seemed to be a foreign concept, a concept that we felt whose time had come. Vibratex brought in from Japan, the dual-action vibrators for distribution in the United States.

Their products "Rabbit Habit" and "Magic Wand," to name a few, have become household names as a result of a host of accolaides received from magazines articles and TV, including HBO's Sex and the City". Their focus on ingenuity, quality and aesthetics has become a source of pride for Vibratex. All of their products are sensitive to women's special needs - free of Latex and Phthalates (off gassing odors) and crafted in Japan.
MUF Footnote: Their products really do come from Japan. The other day I was unpacking our shipment from them and realized the newspaper they used for packing was a real Japanese newspaper. The Coco Restaurant ad was so familiar and yet so foreign.
